Job Summary :
Under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Director of Parks and Maintenance, the Facilities Trades Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of construction trade and maintenance tasks, including routine HVAC maintenance, light electrical work, painting, plumbing, special event setup, equipment maintenance, purchasing, and snow removal.
In addition to facility-specific responsibilities, the Facilities Trades Specialist collaborates with the parks maintenance staff to plan and execute seasonal preparation and upkeep at the Weinberg Family Recreation Center and Glencoe Beach.
This role also supports the overall cleanliness and readiness of all Park District facilities. Regular duties include custodial work and program room setup, depending on seasonal needs. Additional tasks may be assigned by the Assistant Director of Parks and Maintenance as necessary.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical journals, financial reports, legal documents, and governmental regulations.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
To perform the job successfully, the candidate must have knowledge and proficiency in the use of internet and word processing software, as well as the ability to operate Takiff Center's automated building heating / cooling software.
Must possess interpersonal skills; have the ability to manage difficult or emotional customer and staff situations and have the ability to balance team and individual responsibilities, exhibit objectivity, give and welcome feedback, and build and maintain positive staff morale.
Ability to identify, analyze, develop alternatives, and implement appropriate solutions to problems.
Hours :
The typical work schedule for this position is Monday to Friday, 7 : 00 a.m. to 3 : 30 p.m., with a half-hour for lunch.
Due to the very nature of Park District programming, evening, weekend, and some holiday hours are to be expected, and it is likely that the work week may exceed 40 hours. This position is also required to work on the 4th of July.
Pay Scale :
This is a Full-Time, non-exempt / exempt position. The intended starting pay for this position is $25 per hour, with a full pay scale ranging from $24.13 per hour to $34.98 per hour.
Final compensation will be determined in good faith based on an evaluation of the candidate's qualifications, experience, and the recommendation of the Director of Parks and Planning or the Executive Director.
