Lead HVAC Installation Technician Job Description

The Heating and Air Conditioning Installer is responsible for HVAC systems in residential and light commercial applications, ensuring efficient and safe operation. This includes installing new equipment, components, and ductwork to meet Doc Dancer’s standards and requirements for light commercial applications, while also ensuring systems operate efficiently and safely. This involves installing new equipment and components and verifying that the systems adhere to Doc Dancer’s standards, code requirements, and performance specifications. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, keen attention to detail, proven leadership abilities, and exceptional customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Install residential heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (HVAC) according to company standards and local building codes.
  • Install various types of HVAC equipment, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductless systems, boilers, and ventilation units.
  • Install and seal ductwork, electrical connections, refrigerant lines, and other related components.
  • Perform testing to confirm the system's function correctly, including pressure and performance tests.
  • Ensure team members follow their assigned tasks and assist or train as needed.
  • Collaborate with the install manager, customers, general contractors, and other trade professionals to complete installations.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures during installations to protect clients, property, and yourself.
  • Provide excellent customer service, answering questions and explaining systems to homeowners.
  • Keep job sites clean and organized before leaving.
  • Maintain accurate installation records, including start checklists, photos, and materials used.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues that occur during installation, providing solutions.
  • Show willingness to accept responsibility and leadership roles.
  • Be available for on-call work during some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school training is a plus.
  • Proven experience (4+ years preferred) in HVAC installation or related field.
  • Hold a Journeyman card from the Allen County, IN Building Dept.
  • Hold EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Drug screening and background check required.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and industry standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
  • Familiarity with various HVAC systems and installation techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in tight spaces, including attics and crawl spaces.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and over 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
  • Must be able to work on ladders, rooftops, and in confined spaces.
