Buyer Contract
Location : Chicago, IL About the Role : We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to support our manufacturing operations in the Chicagoland area. This contract role focuses on sourcing, purchasing, and managing supplier relationships to ensure the timely delivery of materials, components, and services required for production. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing procurement, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and quality teams.
Key Responsibilities :
- Procure raw materials, components, and services in alignment with production schedules and inventory requirements
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to secure favorable agreements
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to understand specifications and lead times
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, and cost
- Maintain accurate purchase records and assist in inventory management
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement process
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications :
3+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environmentKnowledge of sourcing raw materials and production componentsStrong negotiation and vendor management skillsProficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word)Ability to analyze cost, delivery, and quality metrics to make informed decisionsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsDetail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilitiesAbility to work effectively both independently and as part of a teamPreferred Qualifications :
