Reporting to the Lead Construction Engineer, or delegate, the Construction Engineer is responsible for providing technical and engineering support during the planning of construction activities in addition to construction supervision & support as work ensues.
Major Duties & Responsibilities :
- Lead the effort of developing Construction Work Plans (CWPs) related to an assigned scope of work. CWPs are the tools to communicate clear direction to field craft and ensure the performance of safe, timely, productive, and quality work are in accordance with project requirements.
- Provides technical information and field oversight support for an assigned scope of work.
- Provides technical assistance to Superintendents, Foremen, and other craft supervision as required.
- Must maintain a thorough understanding of project specifications and design documents with respect to assigned scopes of work and ensure incorporation of all project requirements into the developed work plans.
- Prepares Requests for Information (RFIs) as they pertain to assigned scopes and leads the effort of incorporation into work plans and revisions as required.
- Maintains understanding of project milestones with respect to assigned scopes, and ensures work plans are developed, reviewed, and approved for use by required dates in project schedule.
- Leads the effort, with support from project estimators, in the development of changed conditions to work plans in support of project change orders.
- Provides review and acceptance of assigned Subcontractor work plans for subcontracted scopes, as required.
- Participates in the review / coordination of project specific survey needs, as they pertain to assigned scopes of work.
- Other duties, as assigned, that are necessary to manage an assigned scope of work from work plan development through execution support for field supervision.
Skills / Qualifications :
BS of Civil Engineering from a recognized University.New graduate with job or internship experience in the heavy civil construction industry (bridge, highway, tunnel, or similar public infrastructure) or demonstrated equivalency of experience or education.Must be self-motivated to gain new and challenging experiences, supportive & enjoy working in a collaborative team environment.Must have demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).Must have demonstrated experience with AutoCAD.
