Description :
The RN Clinical Periop Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team.
This team ensures that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, and safe patient care.
They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders.
Support is provided through a professional governance model.
The framework for practice is guided by a professional practice model, evidence-based practice, and research.
All RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core competencies.
It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Professional Nurse Practice Act.
They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the nursing association.
As a member of the patient services team, it is crucial to uphold the voice of the patient and system policies.
Support service excellence goals is also a key responsibility.
Core Responsibilities include :
Performing the nursing process in clinical care using evidence-based practice.
Utilizing analytical and critical thinking skills to ensure care is individualized.
Providing relationship-based patient-centered care reflecting an understanding of cultural diversity.
Partnering with the patient and significant others to focus on the patient's goals.
Coordinating the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care.
Demonstrating teamwork by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner.
Participating in performance improvement activities and supporting research utilization.
Completing all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required mandatory education.
Serving as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses and staff.
Promoting evidence-based practice and participating in nursing research.
Upholding all healthcare system policies and legal requirements.
Proactively planning for the care of patients across the care continuum.
Participating in the development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes.
Supporting the efficient use of human and material resources.
Performing other duties as assigned and complying with organizational policies and conduct standards.
