TRANSLATOR / INTERPRETER Job Posting - Prisma International, Inc.
We are seeking experienced, professional Translators and Interpreters in Alaska to join our independent contractor team.
- TRANSLATORS will provide written translation from English into your native / indigenous language.
- INTERPRETERS will provide spoken word interpretation (over the phone) in English and your native / indigenous language.
See language list below. To be considered for hire, you must meet all minimum requirements listed in this job ad. Your resume must include an outline of experience completing written translations and / or interpretation. Other minimum requirements are stated below. Translation and interpretation project assignments are offered and assigned on an as-needed basis according to your availability.

Any other indigenous language of Alaska
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - You must meet ALL of the following requirements :
You must reside in the United States or its territories (preferably Alaska).You must be 18+ years of age.Two (2) years of professional experience providing written translations - OR - over-the-phone interpretation in one or more of the above-listed languages. The resume / CV you submit must clearly outline your background in at least one of these languages. Candidates whose resumes do not include a minimum of two years of professional experience will be disqualified.Bachelor's degree in translation, interpretation or other language-related discipline from an accredited college or university. Three+ years of professional translation or interpretation experience may be accepted in lieu of a college degree.Willingness to abide by Prisma's Master Service Agreement (MSA) and related Addenda.High proficiency in English and a native speaker of the target language(s).Reliable desktop PC or laptop with dedicated, secure, high-speed internet connection.Adobe Acrobat on your device and the ability to use Adobe's markup tools on a PDF file - TranslatorsAbility to provide two professional references who can vouch for your experience.PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES
Experience providing professional translation or interpretation for emergency management agencies, e.g. FEMA.Knowledge of floods caused by the recent typhoon impacting western Alaska's Yukon-Kuskokwim delta.Connection to indigenous communities in the above-stated geographical region preferred.TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
TRANSLATORS :
Provide written translations using a Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tool. We provide XTM access to you.Adhere to all project work instructions, glossaries and reference materials provided to you.Ensure the source content's concept, style and register are culturally and linguistically appropriate for the target language.Perform language quality check steps (before delivery) to ensure the target translation is error-free and true to the meaning of the source document.Deliver completed translation jobs by the given deadlines and project budgets.Review formatted target language PDF files for accuracy; mark any corrections needed. Using Adobe mark-up tools is required.Communicate in a timely and professional manner with Prisma team members.Willfully participate in quality management processes, e.g. Corrective Action Reports (CARs), Root Cause Analyses (RCAs), solution implementation.Take all measures necessary to protect and keep private sensitive information shared with you to carry out translation projects (e.g. PHI, PII, SBU).Adhere to policies and processes defined in Prisma's Master Service Agreement (MSA) and the Prisma Vendor Guide.INTERPRETERS :
Conduct over-the-phone interpretation between a government representative and non-English speakers.Use polite forms of expression, enunciation, and a high-level of customer service.Deliver correct concepts and meanings between speaker and the Limited English Proficient (LEP) speaker.Use correct grammar, clarity and tones between the two languages.Follow speakers' direction, professionally interject when clarification is needed, and manage the flow of a conversation.Comply with applicable ethics and standards..OTHER ATTRIBUTES
Excellent communication skills and quick responses to Prisma project team requests.After hours and weekend ability is a plus (at your discretion).Requirements
