Unit Overview :
Join our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit , dedicated to caring for a diverse patient population including :
Post-operative patients including those with craniotomies, AVMs, and tumor resections.Patients undergoing cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries.Hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke patients as part of our comprehensive stroke program.A high volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients, along with medical overflow cases.As part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII) , you'll be exposed to the latest neurosurgical techniques and cutting-edge care.

Assess patient needs using the nursing process and maintain a therapeutic relationship.Recognize and respond to significant patient condition changes promptly.Implement patient safety strategies and individualized learning approaches for patients and families.Coordinate discharge plans effectively through interdisciplinary collaboration.Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes and participate in shared governance initiatives to improve processes.Communicate effectively and lead the care team, delegating tasks appropriately.Promote a safety culture by identifying and mitigating potential risks.Engage in ethical decision-making and provide individualized care approaches.Contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the department.Seek opportunities for professional development and attend mandatory training.Adapt nursing care to meet the age-specific needs of patients.Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Registered Nurse license in the practicing state.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).Education Required :
Completion of an accredited Nursing program.Experience Required :
Typically, 1 year of clinical nursing experience.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
