Overview

BJC Medical Group is seeking a BC / BE GI Physician to join our established team based at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, IL, just 15 minutes from St. Louis, Missouri.

St. Louis offers city amenities and, per the 2025 Doximity Physician Compensation Report, is a high-paying metro for physicians. It also features a lower cost of living than the national average and family-friendly neighborhoods.

Practice Overview

  • Beautiful and spacious clinic on the campus of Alton Memorial Hospital's Digestive Health Center
  • 4 endoscopy suites at Alton Memorial Hospital with room to staff and run a fifth room, volume permitting
  • Employed position with ample support and mentorship available
  • APP support in the clinic and with inpatient rounding
  • Typically 3.5 days in the lab and 1 day of clinic per week
  • Ability to be busy right away as the group is scheduled out 6 months
  • Ability to perform advanced GI, ERCP and EUS

    Qualifications

    Role Purpose

    The physician will provide professional medical services within the practicing Specialty to the best of the physician's ability through direct patient care and related duties such as medical records, MyChart consultations and inbasket management, patient education, and collaboration with advanced practice providers.

    Responsibilities

  • Manage medical care of patient panel, including inpatient hospital care through rounds or coordination with hospitalists, compliant with Medical Staff requirements.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and care team to ensure excellent outcomes at clinic and outreach locations.
  • Perform and document histories and physicals in the medical record per hospital bylaws.
  • Provide or arrange for call coverage for clinic and inpatient needs according to BJC policies and legal / ethical standards.
  • Collaborate and teach advanced practice providers and care team members.
  • Safety-sensitive position with required alertness and safe performance of duties.

    Education

  • Doctorate in Medicine

    • Experience

  • Less than 2 years

    • Licenses & Certifications

  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in practicing specialty
  • Licensed Physician

    • Preferred Requirements

    Experience
