Job Description and Duties

Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department is accepting applications for at least two (2) Limited Term, Full-Time appointments to the Electrician I position. The vacancies exist in the Facility Operations Department and is under the direction of the Electrician Supervisor.

Applicants must possess knowledge of principles, methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the electrical trade relevant to general commercial construction. Current knowledge of relevant CalOSHA safety orders applicable to National Electrical Code and California Building Standards Codes.

A successful incumbent will have knowledge and experience in installation and repair of electrical lines and electrical equipment; assembly, install and repair of electric lights, motors, heaters, generators, transformers, switchboards and other electrical apparatus; troubleshooting electrical systems; rough and finish electrical including the use of hand and power tools; able to prepare rough sketches of electrical work; make estimates of materials and labor keeping simple records and reports, maintaining accurate record keeping; reading blueprints, working from & interpreting plans and specifications; and ability to adhere to all safety and security policies and procedures.

Additional requirements include ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, interpersonal skills, dependability, able to follow directions and complete assigned tasks; ability to collaborate with other shops and disciplines and contractors in coordination of project work and promote & maintain positive and effective work relationships; completion of Electrician I Apprenticeship or equivalent.

Additional Information :

  • The initial appointment may be up to 12 months with the possibility of extending up to 24 months. Positions filled as limited term may become permanent.

    Working Conditions

    Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.
