Job Description

The STS Tax Experienced Manager, State and Local Taxation, is responsible for advising clients on the tax implications related to their business objectives, recommending alternative courses of action, and identifying different methods of compliance with tax regulations. The role involves marketing, networking, and business development within your area of expertise, recognizing potential changes in tax policy, and applying new policies to tax compliance. Additionally, you will collaborate with Core Tax Partners, Directors, and Senior Managers to provide SALT expertise to clients.

Job Responsibilities

• Research : Conduct research on complex issues, analyze findings, and develop relationships with state tax authorities.
• Tax Compliance : Review tax returns, respond to notices, and assist with audits.
• Tax Consulting : Draft memos and opinions, determine tax planning strategies, and manage client engagements.
• Tax Controversy : Represent clients in disputes with tax authorities.
• Software Utilization : Use tax research databases and related software.
• Tax Specialization : Provide technical service, negotiate settlements, and draft technical memoranda.
• Strategy Development : Identify tax-saving opportunities, develop new ideas, and suggest marketing strategies.
• Supervisory Responsibilities : Oversee and evaluate the work of team members, providing training and performance feedback.
