The Chief MRI Technologist is responsible for administrative, supervisory and advanced technical duties, as well as, performing as a staff MR technologist. Position is responsible for effectively recognizing, anticipating and solving problems. This position is responsible for supervising, delegating and directing the real time communication, resource scheduling, coordination, image quality, QC, training and PACS functions in the MRI area of THE Imaging Center. The Chief MR Technologist shall supervise the technical performance of the MR Technologists, Senior level MR technologists and MRI Assistants to include MRI examinations, PAC’s and customer service, safety, procedures, protocols and standards to achieve compliance and competency. The Chief MR technologist must work closely with THE Imaging Center Director to ensure customer service success. Other duties as assigned.
Education : Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology. Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology or Business required. Bachelors preferred. The Chief MRI Technologist must be registered and in good standing with all governing bodies in Radiology. Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) as a Radiographer and MR technologist. Or become certified in MR one year (12 months) after completion of all MR competency exams.
Experience : Must be capable of directing human and physical resources to achieve an established standard of care in Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Must be highly skilled and motivated to meet customer service standards. In addition must be competent to operate and monitor performance of the following equipment : Magnetic Resonance Imagers, flow regulated injectors, UPS systems, patient monitors, hospital computer systems and other associated Imaging Center equipment. Must deal with professional and caring attitude toward patients, families and other hospital employees in times of great stress. Must be able to handle constant pressure, stress and numerous interruptions associated with busy schedules in the MRI area.
