About The Position

Certifications : BLS from American Heart Association required
Must-Have :
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a pulmonary function lab.
- Ability to perform pulmonary function tests on patients ages 5 and up.
Description :
The Respiratory Therapist primarily performs diagnostic tests.
These tests include spirometry, diffusion testing, lung volumes, airway resistance, respiratory muscle forces, and bronchial provocation testing.
Responsibilities also include completing outpatient six-minute walks, home oxygen evaluations, pentamidine nebs, and sputum inductions.
In addition to testing patients, the Respiratory Therapist may administer respiratory therapies and educate patients on medication and equipment use.
They must calibrate, clean, and maintain diagnostic equipment and recognize equipment malfunctions.
Equipment utilized includes Omnicell Medication System, EPIC EMR, and MGC Diagnostics Platinum Elite Plethysmography PFT machine.
This position requires the respiratory therapist to be trained in pulmonary function lab procedures.
No weekends or call are required.
The department operates two machines, seeing 5-6 patients per day per room.
Grey scrubs are the designated dress code.
