PART-TIME AV PROJECT SPECIALIST - Integrated Systems

Kirkegaard is seeking an early-career audio-video Project Specialist for part-time work. The ideal candidate will have experience working in live performance audio production, video distribution (projection and live video), theatrical communications systems, and a strong desire to design for the performing arts. A drive to learn and a commitment to being a collaborative, efficient, and effective member both internally and externally are musts.

The position location is part-time remote. Responsibilities include :

  • Providing design support for the creation of cost-effective and timely design solutions of audio, video, and control systems, tailored to the users and clients needs
  • Coordinating work with internal team members, architects, engineers, theater consultants, and other disciplines across assigned projects
  • Creating and maintaining project assets such as Revit models, Excel files, Word documents, 3D models, and AutoCAD drawings as needed
  • Working with Designers and senior Consultants to deliver best-in-class AV systems and infrastructure drawings, details, specifications, and other construction documents

The ideal candidate will have :

  • A minimum of three years of experience in live production, AV design, or equivalent industry.
  • Basic knowledge of performance audio and video systems, including live video production and / or video projection and display, networking and control systems, concert audio, signal processing / routing, and performance power distribution
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD is required; proficiency with Autodesk Revit is a plus
  • A curiosity for learning and the ability to quickly grasp and apply new techniques based on that learning
  • General knowledge of AV-related IT services, networking hardware, infrastructure, and system architecture
  • The ability to self-manage time and tasks, work asynchronously with others across time zones, and maintain a positive work / life balance
  • High-level thinking and visualization skills with an orientation for design and creative problem-solving
  • Experience with construction techniques and materials is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex issues and problems with clarity
  • A flexible, collaborative approach to work, within the firm and with design team members
  • A bachelors degree in a related field is preferred
  • Eastern or Central time zone-based is preferred
