Specifically, the Child Placing Agency (CPA) works to serve the children in our community that have experienced neglect and / or abuse. CPA does this by securing safe and loving foster homes that can meet a child's basic needs. Our foster parents open their hearts and homes to provide children with healthy living conditions and positive relationships.

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Foster Program Case Worker to join our Child Placing Agency team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and is passionate about making a lasting impact in the lives of children and families.

The Case Worker will be responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and permanency of children in foster care. This includes ongoing assessment of child and family needs, coordination of services, and support for foster families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of 25-30 children and families , providing consistent support and oversight.
  • Develop and maintain individualized casework plans , including intake assessments, admissions, and permanency planning.
  • Conduct monthly home visits and interviews with foster children and parents to ensure compliance with state standards.
  • Provide emotional support and counseling to foster families and children.
  • Serve as a liaison between foster parents and Child Protective Services (CPS) case workers.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director, CPS, and other service providers to staff cases and coordinate care.
  • Facilitate and coordinate foster parent training sessions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation to ensure state compliance .
  • Investigate and report serious incidents or non-compliance issues.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality standards in accordance with agency policies and ethical guidelines.
  • Be available for emergency situations , including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related human services field preferred, with at least 9 credit hours in family and individual dynamics.
  • If degree is outside of social work / human services, 2 years of full-time experience in a child-placing agency is required.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a child-placing agency under supervision of a child placing administrator.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Clear criminal background , driving record, and drug screening.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with children, families, and professionals.
  • Demonstrated empathy, integrity, and commitment to Tejano Center's mission.

  • Tools / Equipment Used : Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
  • Posture : Prolonged sitting; occasional bending / stooping, pushing / pulling, and twisting
  • Motion : Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
  • Lifting : Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
  • Environment : May work prolonged or irregular hours ; occasional districtwide travel
  • Mental Demands : Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
