About the Indiana State Personnel Department (INSPD) : As an agency operating a shared services model, we provide the executive branch of state government with top-notch HR services. Role Overview
In this role, you will serve as a consultant to SPD Field HR and State agency leaders in matters of classification, compensation, and organizational structure. You will be assigned a portfolio of approximately 10-15 various State agencies to provide support in the following areas :
- Evaluating job duties, requirements, responsibilities, and competencies of various roles to determine appropriate job category, skill level, and job series
- Reviewing and approving salary requests for new hires and current state employees while maintaining internal equity
- Maintaining compliance with federal, state, and agency laws, rules, and policies related to compensation and position management
- Developing organizational charts that provide a visual representation of current reporting structure and / or proposed changes
As a member of the Compensation & Organizational Development team, you will also participate in various state and national salary surveys and market benchmarking, assist with facilitating trainings and workshops, and contribute to other team projects as needed.

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $67,314.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life
The essential functions of this role are as follows :
Review and analyze compensation and classification initiativesProvide consultation and guidance regarding classification and compensationAnalyze classification and compensation requests and presents recommendations to management that offer alternative strategies as appropriateServe as liaison between state agencies and the Indiana State Personnel DepartmentCreate and provides training on compensation issuesIdentify potential classification, compensation, and reorganization problems and recommends solutionsPerform market studies as required for classificationsComplete salary surveysThe job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee. Extensive knowledge of SPD's mission and organizational structure.Considerable knowledge of SPD policy and procedures.Extensive knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations, and policies as defined by the State Personnel Department, formal grievance procedures, Civil Rights legislation, and the overall mechanics of the merit and non-merit systems.Ability to perform actions and run reports in PeopleSoft HR.Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.Supervisory Responsibilities / Direct Reports
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
