Position Name : Journeyman Test Engineer (Mid-Level) Location : Springfield, Virginia Citizenship : U.S. Citizen Clearance Required : Top Secret with SCI Eligibility Job Type : On-site, Full-time About the Role We are seeking a skilled Journeyman-level Test Engineer who thrives in collaborative, DevOps-focused environments. In this role, you will support testing and evaluation (T&E) activities for cloud-hosted and software-intensive systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and readiness across AWS, DevOps, and Java / Python-based platforms. You’ll plan, execute, and document test events—from developing strategies and procedures to analyzing results and briefing stakeholders. This role requires strong technical problem-solving, attention to detail, and the ability to contribute both independently and within cross-functional teams. Responsibilities Analyze system requirements, CONOPS, and acquisition documentation to develop test strategies and procedures. Plan and execute manual and automated test events, collecting and evaluating performance data. Develop and maintain T&E documentation, including Test Plans, Readiness Assessments, and Evaluation Reports. Coordinate with internal and external test organizations to ensure integrated and aligned testing across domains. Apply tailored testing approaches based on system maturity, risk, and mission need. Communicate progress, results, issues, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders. Support verification and validation of system performance in operationally realistic environments. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree; OR Associate’s + 4 years; OR minimum 6 years relevant experience. Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow established testing processes. Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, DevOps practices, and Java / Python-based systems. Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code, and automated test frameworks. Strong collaborative skills with the ability to take ownership of assigned tasks. Preferred Skills Experience working in Agile / Scrum development environments. Exposure to testing multi-cloud or hybrid system architectures. Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey technical findings clearly and effectively.
