This position is responsible for the enforcement of federal, state, and local laws and the protection of life and property. Responsibilities include conducting investigations, responding to calls for service, patrolling assigned areas, performing traffic enforcement duties, documenting incidents, assisting in the preparation of court documents, serving warrants, and performing other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and skills required include understanding of relevant laws, traffic accident investigation techniques, geography and streets of the city, court system and judicial procedures, use of computer, operating police vehicles, firearms, and emergency equipment, operating radar equipment, restraining persons without causing physical harm, and oral and written communication.
The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The work requires the use of specialized law enforcement equipment. The position does not have supervisory and management responsibility.
Minimum qualifications include completion of specialized training in the field of work, a high school diploma or GED, sufficient experience, a valid driver's license issued by the State of Wyoming, and a Peace Officer Certification issued by the Wyoming Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission.
