The co-op program is an educational and clinical work experience for high school students. Students will work 1 : 1 with a preceptor and perform a wide range of patient care tasks under the nursing support scope. The performance of tasks allows the care team to provide quality care.

Job Duties :

• The position will focus on providing patient care within a clinical scope of practice.
• Fulfills designated responsibilities for ongoing continuum of care (non-assessment).
• Identifies observes and documents the physical needs of the patient according to standards.
• Assists with patient transfer and transport as needed.
• Assists in problem solving trouble shooting and taking corrective measures in care and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Assists in clerical responsibilities as required for task completion.
• Suggests issues for improvement and offer solutions on issues.

Position Details :

This is a standard job requisition for the Inpatient Nursing Co-op position for the Wilkes-Barre area at Geisinger Wyoming Valley.

High school junior students must apply to this program their junior year to complete the co-op as a senior during the 2026-2027 academic school year.

Inpatient Nursing Co-op students must attend a mandatory 2-day orientation (dates will be provided to students upon offer) . Co-op hours on the assigned unit will begin in September.
