IAF is one of 15 US manufacturers who can train and offer opportunities in multiple production processes : Cold-Forming (Set-Up Machine Operator), Thread Rolling (Set-Up Machine Operator), Electro plating, Geomet, Annealing (Manual Machine Operator) – Heat Treatment Process (Manual Machine Operator), and Material Movement (Material Handler).

A Day in the life of an IAF Team Member?

As a Machine Operator, you will be the heartbeat of our processes. You will set up and operate 3 to 5 machines according to our safety, quality and production standards. In Heading we will train you to load raw material into the machine, make machine adjustments, make tooling adjustments and changes, complete inspection fixture adjustments, and inspect parts to make sure we are producing excellent quality fasteners.

You would Thrive in this position if : You have a willingness to learn something new, or if you already have experience conducting changeovers depending on the part that needs to be produced. Have experience reading set-up sheets to operator machines, as well as having knowledge of using calipers and micrometers, and or gages to check quality of parts. Knowledge of troubleshooting and diagnosing issues with cars, machines, or you are mechanically inclined would be great in this position.

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to :

  • Perform routine set-up and changeover of machines, adjusting as needed to process operations accordingly.
  • Run orders per product specifications and standard practices. This may include sorting, labeling, and packaging products per customer specifications, quality requirements, and standard practices
  • Perform tests and check products routinely for multiple characteristics using standard measuring tools, calipers, micrometers etc.
  • Understand and implement quality standards and procedures
  • Meet production schedules and program production sequences for optimal productivity.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and specifications or instructions of higher level technical personnel and monitor meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production / process specifications.
  • Maintain production records and logs of equipment and product performance.
  • Maintain work area with necessary supplies to complete processes- 4S+ standard work
  • Operate heavy equipment necessary to move, load, and ship material and / or finished products throughout the manufacturing environment.
  • Support inventory accuracy by completing cycle counts and correct discrepancies to achieve business goals.
  • Assist and support other team members in meeting department and site goals.
  • Contribute and participate in team decision making processes including problem solving and continuous improvement efforts. Provide support in project work and other special requests.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner

  • Training on 1st 6 : 30am-3 : 00pm 4 to 6 weeks in our Global Training Center, where we teach you basic knowledge of the machine, and how to change the machine over, then move to 2nd 2 : 30 P.M. to 11 : 00 P.M. (Monday-Friday) 3rd 10 : 30pm to 7am. (Sunday-Thursday) 6 to 12 weeks on the floor with a floor trainer on the shift assigned to.

  • Six months of related experience and or training, one-year certificate from a college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Machine aptitude (preferred)
  • Trouble shooting experience (preferred)
  • Good communication
  • Organization and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Ability to lift container up to 25lbs (repetitively) to 100lbs (occasionally)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, use of hands, walk, bend, and or twist
  • Ability to work 12+ hours (including Saturdays and Sundays

    LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    REASONING ABILITY : Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk or hear. The Team Member is occasionally required to stand and use hands, walk, bend, lift, or twist. The Team Member frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The Team Member is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The Team Member must occasionally lift and / or move up to 100 pounds. The Team Member must be able to lift a container of fasteners weighing up to 25 pounds on a regular basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is frequently required to sit; to use their hands to finger, handle, or feel; and to talk or hear.
