The RN Clinical Nurse Critical Care is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team.
They ensure patients and families receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care.
They practice in a clinical environment supported by Nurse Managers and other leaders.
The framework for practice is guided by a shared governance model and evidence-based practice.
RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core values.
Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold nursing practice standards.
They should implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards.
As a member of the patient services team, they uphold the voice of the patient and system policies.
They maintain a focus on service excellence goals.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions :
They perform the nursing process in clinical care using evidence-based practice.
The nursing process includes assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
They provide relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics.
They partner with patients and significant others to set goals for the care plan.
Current clinical practice standards guide their practice.
Teamwork and Collaboration :
They coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care.
This involves diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods.
They demonstrate teamwork and collaboration in a fiscally responsible manner.
They support performance improvement and participate in shared governance initiatives.
Professional Development and Initiative :
They complete all required professional competency assessments and mandatory education.
They serve as a preceptor and / or mentor for other professional nurses and staff.
Evidence-Based Practice and Research :
They promote evidence-based practice and participate in nursing research.
They uphold all organizational policies and procedures and comply with regulatory standards.
Data collection and posing relevant clinical questions to advance evidence-based practice are essential.
Resources and Support :
They proactively plan for the care of patients across the care continuum.
They participate in developing protocols and procedures with the healthcare team.
Support for effective use of human and material resources is a responsibility.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
They comply with all organizational policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
