Our client, a global transportation organization, is looking to hire an Interior Design Manager to join their Corporate Real Estate team in Chicago, IL.
Description
We're seeking a talented and experienced Design Manager (Contractor) to support the development and implementation of interior design standards across a broad portfolio of facilities. This role involves collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to ensure design consistency, functionality, and excellence across all projects.
The ideal candidate will bring strong design expertise, project coordination skills, and a strategic mindset to help shape both customer-facing and employee workspaces. This includes renovations, new construction, and strategic improvements to facilities across the network.
Key Responsibilities :
Core : Develop and implement design standards, including selecting appropriate FF&E, finishes, and other design elements in collaboration with stakeholders and vendors
Core : Collaborate with project managers to create and coordinate conceptual designs for executive and financial review
Core : Partner with internal teams to develop strategic design plans for new initiatives and improvements to various space types
Core : Effectively manage time and workload, prioritizing based on leadership direction
Lead space planning, programming, and utilization studies for facilities across the network
Review and interpret architectural plans from third-party architects and engineers
Act as subject matter expert on design standards for new or evolving initiatives
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in Interior Design and / or Architecture
8+ years of relevant experience
Familiarity with facility design, planning, or execution roles
Knowledge of applicable design codes, including ADA
Proficiency in software tools : Excel, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Revit, and InDesign
Strong presentation, collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to work onsite up to three days per week (Chicago, IL)
Ability to travel up to 10%
Preferred Qualifications :
NCIDQ certification
