QUALIFICATIONS : Any person employed as a teacher assistant, must hold one of the following credentials : temporary license, continuing certificate, or Level I, II, III or Para-Professional certificate. Since February 2, 2004, all teacher assistant candidates are required to take the Assessment of Teaching Assistant Skills Tests (ATAS) unless the candidate took and achieved a qualifying score on the Liberal Arts and Sciences Test (LAST) which is a requirement for classroom teacher certification. DUTIES : The role of teacher assistant is to provide direct instructional services to the students under the supervision of the principal and the direction of certified teachers who are responsible for the students’ instruction.
APPOINTMENT : Appointments are subject to the review of the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following the approval of the City of Buffalo Civil Service Division. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
SALARY : $21.32 / HR
