About The Position

Experience : 2 years in Mother Baby unit

License : Active RN License

Certifications : NRP, BLS (AHA), NIHSS

Must-Have :

• 2 years experience in Mother Baby unit required
• Comfortable with a 1 : 8 patient ratio required
• Previous travel experience required
• Not considering first-time travelers without having worked for at least 2 different organizations in the Mother Baby unit

Description :

Compiles database and formulates nursing diagnosis.

Utilizes physical assessment and interviewing techniques.

Anticipates the need for intervention by other disciplines.

Determines priorities for patient care needs or problems.

Reassesses the patient as indicated by changes in condition and / or response to treatment.

Initiates and updates a written nursing plan of care for patients by incorporating scientific and psychosocial principles that support the nursing diagnosis.

Incorporates information obtained from nursing care planning conferences into the written nursing plan of care.

Coordinates patient, family, significant others, and health team members in the planning of hospital and post-discharge care.

Performs clinical nursing skills independently.

Administers medications, IV therapy, and treatments appropriately and accurately.

Initiates appropriate emergency procedures as necessary.

Appropriately delegates and coordinates the duties of ancillary personnel.

Communicates the patient's status and plan of care through written documentation in the patient's medical record.

Verbally communicates the patient's status to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Communicates in a therapeutic manner with the patient, family, and visitors.

Applies teaching and learning principles in the education of patient and family.

Manages daily patient assignment by appropriately setting priorities.

Delegates responsibility appropriately and monitors the nursing care delivered to patients by ancillary personnel.

Coordinates patient activities with other disciplines.

Develops, documents, and implements Patient Teaching and Discharge Planning Record.

Participates in established patient, family, staff, and / or student education programs.

Participates in clinical monitoring at the unit level.

Identifies unit, staff, and patient care problems.

Takes action or refers problems to appropriate resources when indicated.

May participate in activities of the RN 3, with the exception of serving as a facilitator for the Nurse Residency Program.

If competent, serves as a charge RN and monitors productivity and patient flow.

If competent, precepts new staff.
