Location :  Remote with a high preference for candidates who are local to the DC, MD, VA area

Salary Range : $145,000 - $175,000

We are seeking a highly motivated, customer-oriented  Server Ops Lead  Systems  Engineer   to join our team. This person will oversee server operations, drive system reliability, and lead technical initiatives to ensure high availability and performance across on-premises and cloud environments.

To be considered for this position, US Citizenship and an active Secret security clearance is required. This is a funded position and is contingent upon verification of a security clearance prior to starting with Cloudshape.

Primary Duties Include but Are Not Limited To :

Lead day-to-day server operations, including deployment, monitoring, patching, and troubleshooting of Linux and Windows servers.

Design, implement, and optimize server infrastructure for reliability, scalability, and security.

Automate routine tasks using scripts and configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or PowerShell).

Manage virtualization and cloud environments (VMware, Hyper-V, AWS, Azure, OCI).

Serve as a technical lead and mentor for junior system engineers and support staff.

Collaborate with network, storage, and application teams to ensure seamless integration and uptime.

Maintain system documentation, perform audits, and support compliance requirements.

Basic Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree
• 5 + years of experience
• An ability to work independently, multi-task, and communicate effectively will be required for this role.
• US Citizen with an active Secret security clearance
• Strong expertise in Linux and / or Windows server environments, virtualization, and cloud platforms.
• Experience with automation tools and scripting for system management.
• Solid understanding of networking, security, and backup / recovery practices.
