Park Caretaker

The park caretaker is responsible for maintaining, cleaning, and providing a safe environment for park patrons. The scope includes the park's grounds, facilities, and amenities year-round. This position requires hands-on groundskeeping, cleaning, and basic maintenance work to promote a safe, clean and enjoyable park experience for all users. Collaboration will be necessary with the county facilities management team for major carpentry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC maintenance on the property. The caretaker will also work closely with the parks team to assist with preparing and cleaning rental spaces in the park for scheduled activities along with routine property maintenance. The park caretaker will also monitor activities occurring on property for compliance with park rules and venue rental parameters. The employee resides on property (via a separate lease arrangement for 2BR / 2BA home) and may be required to work irregular hours, including on-call in an emergency. A park truck and utility cart are provided for on-premises park work.

Distinguishing characteristics :

Independent judgment, personal discretion, and resourcefulness are needed to interpret and apply guidelines. Errors at this level could cause serious, long-term consequences involving substantial financial costs, significantly reduced service to the public, and / or negative media reaction and could impact others outside of a department and may require the intervention of an agency head to resolve. This job is required to serve in an "on-call" capacity and is required to live on property.
