Building Maintenance Job Description

Responsibilities :

• Responsible for general maintenance and upkeep of the facility and surrounding property.
• Perform repairs and routine maintenance on facility equipment, lighting, plumbing, and general infrastructure.
• Assist with installation, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery and building systems as needed.
• Maintain the building exterior, yard, and walkways to ensure cleanliness and safety.
• Support warehouse and operations teams by addressing facility-related issues quickly and efficiently.

Job Functions :

Display strong work ethic and honesty; adhere to all company guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Engage work with a high sense of urgency; be highly organized and detail-oriented.

Use appropriate hand tools, power tools, and safety equipment in accordance with OSHA guidelines.

Diagnose and repair facility-related issues such as lighting, HVAC systems, plumbing fixtures, and structural maintenance.

Perform preventive maintenance checks on building equipment and utility systems.

Maintain a clean and orderly work area inside and outside the warehouse.

Assist with special facility projects as assigned (e.g., rearranging workspace layouts, equipment moves, etc.).

Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members regarding facility needs and status of repairs.

Additional job duties can be added at any time.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Experience :

Broad maintenance knowledge in electrical, plumbing, and basic mechanical systems.

Forklift or pallet jack experience is highly desired (training available).

Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals.

Comfortable using ladders, power tools, calipers, and diagnostic equipment.

Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safe work practices.

Experience working independently and managing small projects or repairs from start to finish.

Minimum Education Required : High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Experience Required : 2 years of general building or facility maintenance experience.

Ability to read and write in English and understand basic math.

Familiarity with computers or work order systems is helpful.

Physical Requirements :

Ability to move about regularly and stand or sit for extended periods.

Regular need to reach, bend, squat, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.

Ability to work in varying temperatures (both indoors and outdoors).
