Description :

Supports CLIA-Moderately Complex Testing Laboratories in the Des Moines Metro area (Ankeny, Clive, Pleasant Hill, Indianola). Responsibilities include performing phlebotomy and laboratory tests such as CBC, urinalysis, and Flu / COVID testing, among others.

Responsibilities

• Supports CLIA-Moderately Complex Testing Laboratory at Pleasant Hill Clinic / Urgent Care
• Responsibilities include performing phlebotomy and laboratory tests such as CBC, urinalysis, and Flu / COVID testing, among others
• Accurately identifies patients prior to phlebotomy collection of specimens using two patient identifiers as established by laboratory policy
• May perform patient registration as it relates to requested laboratory testing
• Independently performs analysis of biological specimens as trained and per laboratory operating procedures
• Monitors the collection, transportation, storage, identification and processing of laboratory specimens to ensure specimen integrity prior to testing
• Responsible for operation, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation
• Recognizes deviation from expected results, analyzes and corrects problems according to laboratory policies
• Performs quality control per established frequency, monitors results and takes appropriate action to maintain test accuracy and precision
• Assists with new instrument or procedure implementation and training
• Assists and supports quality management systems and performance improvement initiatives
• Works independently, organizing work to meet established deadlines and records
• Follows safe work practices by observing safety and infection control policies and procedures and informing management of any hazards that may exist
• Maintains supply inventories
• Participates in training new employees
• Operates laboratory information systems, personal computers, and instrument-related computer software
• Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers

Schedule : Hours vary between 6 : 30a- 6p (M-F) and 7 : 30a-1p (S-Sun)

General Requirements :

Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within 3 months of hire.

Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory experience preferred.

Computer skills required

Education :

High school diploma or GED required.
