The Territory Marketing Manager in the Commercial Lines (CL) division is responsible for assisting the company's profitable growth through marketing and underwriting activities in the assigned region. This role assists the product team with market research and product development, identifies and recruits qualified agents to represent the company, and manages the performance of the assigned territory. This position utilizes underwriting authority to solicit and underwrite new business accounts while maintaining a consistent focus on marketing responsibilities.

The successful candidate will work primarily throughout the San Antonio, Laredo, McAllen, and / or Valley regions of Texas and must reside in that geographical area; weekly travel is required with overnight travel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop relationships with agents through regular in-person visits, phone, and digital communication. Travel to visit agents and participate in industry and company functions, with overnight travel as needed.
• Gain expert knowledge on company products, underwriting appetite and services and effectively communicate these to agents. Provide training in company systems and processes.
• Utilize effective written and oral communication skills, including presentation, persuasion, tact, and negotiation, combined with interpersonal and problem-solving skills, to support and achieve company goals.
• Work with CL Management and CL Underwriting to define agent and territory goals.
• Communicate goals to assigned agents. Provide ongoing support and guidance as needed. Continuously monitor progress and provide feedback to drive success.
• Utilize Underwriting Letter of Authority to qualify risks while in the field, assist CL Underwriters with gathering underwriting information on risks, and periodically conduct field underwriting of individual risks as needed.
• Follow up on outstanding accounts and work with underwriting to ensure successful closure (binding of the risk).
• Manage agent representation for assigned territory, including recommending rehabilitation plans for underperforming agents, agent terminations, and identifying and appointing potential new agents.
• Attend and be involved in marketing meetings at headquarters or other designated areas as required.
• Use familiarity with geography and demographics of the assigned territory relative to the industry to identify business opportunities and challenges.
• Analyze market trends and competitor data and communicate these to CL Management and Underwriting.
• Analyze multivariate performance information (loss ratio, etc.) to make recommendations for strategic decisions. Present this information to a wide range of groups, including those at an executive level.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field required.

Equivalent experience may substitute for minimum educational requirements. Equivalent experience may include two (2) years of relevant experience.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience required.

CERTIFICATIONS

Chartered Property Casual Underwriter (CPCU) or Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) preferred.

LICENSES

Valid Driver's License required.
