The primary responsibilities of a Brake Press operator are to bend sheet metal in accordance with design specifications and to ensure each piece produced is free of defects.
Duties :
Study blueprints and specification sheets to understand technical requirements.
Setting a computer- controlled press brake to project specifications.
Ensuring proper positioning and alignment of metal inside the press brake.
Monitoring the pressing process.
Measuring and inspecting the finished sheet metal to ensure it matches specifications.
Troubleshooting and addressing problems that arise during the pressing process.
Performing routine maintenance on press brake.
Complying with all health and safety standards in the manufacturing facility.
Skills and Qualifications :
In-depth understanding of parts of a press brake and how the machine works.
Computer skills to operate CNC software.
Ability to remain upright and perform repetitive movements throughout most of a work shift.
Arithmetic skills to perform measurements and calculate settings.
Ability to move heavy or large pieces of sheet metal from one place to another.
Observation skills to monitor the pressing process and inspect metal after pressing.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations for the manufacturing industry.
Familiarity with blueprints and the terminology used in technical specification sheets.
