Job description
Business Director, The Way Out
Responsibilities
Oversee internal accounting and financial systems, identify inaccuracies, recommend improvements, and produce financial reports.
Manage compliance, payables and receivables for Public and Private Grants and government contracts.
Ensure compliance with all government contracts and create monthly reports detailing expenditures and revenue for each contract.
Prepare and process monthly invoices for contracts with the San Francisco Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing, the Department of Public Health, and the Adult Probation Department.
Track revenue and expenses for programs, contracts, and grants; generate reports as needed.
Conduct monthly budget review meetings with The Way Out\'s Executive Team and Program Directors to monitor expenditures, revenue, and ensure fiscal compliance.
Train Program Directors and Managers on fiscal policies, processes, financial controls, and expenditure tracking.
Advise The Way Out\'s Executive team on budget development, fiscal monitoring, and invoice tracking.
Analyze budget trends, prepare forecasts, and produce financial and statistical reports for The Way Out\'s Executive team.
Support development and management of annual budgets, ensuring internal compliance.
Prepare monthly financial reports for the Advisory Board.
Lead audits and ensure compliance with financial and regulatory requirements.
Assist with daily, monthly, and year-end accounting tasks and projects.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience : CA Driver\'s License (required). Bachelor\'s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field (required). 3 years of professional experience in finance, financial analysis, business management, accounting, or related roles. Prior work with nonprofits, government contracts, or grant funding is highly desirable. First Aid and CPR certification (within first fourteen days of employment; company provided). Tuberculosis clearance (within first seven days of employment; company provided).
Skills and Abilities : Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles. Proficient with Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas) and financial software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or SAP. Experience preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, as well as developing and monitoring budgets. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial data to nonfinancial stakeholders. Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Ability to lead projects, work independently, and in a team setting. Excellent time management. Great communication skills. Detail oriented.
Physical Requirements : Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (usually file boxes).
