Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a Level I trauma center assignment in Illinois, requiring a current IL RN license and strong trauma and general surgery skills.
Responsibilities
Work in the Operating Room of an acute care, Magnet-designated hospitalLevel I trauma center environment with 23 ORsDay shift schedule : 3x12-hour shifts (Friday–Sunday, 6 : 45am–7 : 15pm), every third weekend is 7pm–7amRequired to work one weekend per month and two out of three major holidaysOn-call required approximately once per weekFloating within skill set may occur but is rareFloating to other hospital units or affiliates is required for all travelersCerner EMR system used; experience preferredScrubs providedMust live at least 50 miles from facility to be eligibleWill work with all service lines except cardiovascularResponsibilities include handling a diverse surgical caseload with advanced trauma and specialty proceduresRole involves code response, fire safety, management of latex allergy, and response to malignant hyperthermiaFirst-time travelers are not accepted for this roleAny PERM or PRN employee of the facility must have a 12-month break before applying as a travelerFive non-holiday RTO days may be auto-approved; additional time off requires manager approvalCandidates must work two out of three major holidaysParking permit provided at no costAll compliance documentation and onboarding tasks must be completed before startRequirements
Active IL RN license required at time of applicationMinimum 3 years of recent Operating Room RN experience requiredLevel I trauma center experience requiredGeneral OR, trauma, and bariatric case experience requiredExperience in general surgery, neurology, orthopedics, plastics, transplant, urology, and trauma cases requiredCompetency with laparoscopic procedures and emergency management in the ORBLS certification required; CNOR and CST preferredProficiency with instruments / equipment such as electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Hana tablesProfessional skills in administration of blood products, infection control, specimen handling, and universal protocol requiredCerner charting experience preferredBenefits
