We have the following positions open :

2ND SHIFT—3 PM TO 11 : 30 PM, PART-TIME 16 HOURS

2ND SHIFT—3 PM TO 11 : 30 PM, PART-TIME 8 HOURS EVERY SUNDAY

ABOUT MASON WRIGHT : Mason Wright has provided quality, affordable assisted and independent living for seniors since 1892. Our campus, located at 74 Walnut Street in Springfield, MA, comprises 90 units of assisted living, including memory care, and 28 units of independent living.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES : The primary responsibility of this position is to assist residents in the activities of daily living. This includes, but is not limited to, toileting, bathing, dressing, and assessing residents’ need for additional medical attention. RCAs will also provide residents with reminders and cueing to take medications, under the careful supervision of the Health & Wellness Director.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Assist residents with ADLs, including toileting, showering, dressing, and feeding. Assist residents with ambulation as well as with mobility devices, including canes, walkers, and wheelchairs. Help residents with additional ADL devices, such as glasses, hearing aids, and dentures.
  • Perform any treatments, as required, including weights, temperatures, limited skin care, assessment, and cueing of range of motion exercises.
  • Help residents with medications under the careful supervision of the Health & Wellness Director / Health & Wellness Nurse RN / LPN. Cue residents and provide a reminder to take medication.
  • Document in, and refer to, all pertinent lists of record-keeping systems, i.e., the diabetic list, toileting book, dietary needs book, daily communication book, and miscellaneous flow sheets.
  • Availability during shift at all times in each of the neighborhoods, monitoring the safety of each resident. The resident care aides conduct hourly checks on each of the Reflections residents and two-hour checks in other neighborhoods as assigned.
  • Assist the multidisciplinary team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of care plans for residents. Attend and contribute to care planning meetings as assigned.
  • Escort residents to medical appointments within Mason Wright and in the community, as needed.
  • Maintain day-to-day cleanliness in residents’ rooms and bathrooms, and assure tidiness in all accessible storage areas and common areas. Responsible for ensuring that all needed supplies for resident care are in stock. Responsible for communicating with the Health & Wellness Director / Health & Wellness Nurse RN when more ADL supplies are needed.
  • Observe and report any LPN when there are unsanitary conditions, fire, or safety hazards.
  • Observe and immediately report any changes in the resident’s status to the Health & Wellness Director and / or RN / LPNs. This includes changes in physical and / or cognitive / emotional status.
  • Agree to work as assigned. Must be flexible with hours. Mason Wright is committed to providing the residents it serves with the highest quality of care. Given the nature of this work, any and all Mason Wright employees may occasionally be required to work outside regularly scheduled hours. Advanced notice is not always possible but will be given when it is.
  • Work collaboratively with peers as a team.
  • Maintain all certifications as required for employment.
  • Assist the Health & Wellness Director and RN / LPNs in the training of new staff.
  • Assist Residents and kitchen staff in the dining area, which includes taking meal orders
  • Assist the front desk by covering their lunch and answering the phone.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements :

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :

  • Must have an active Massachusetts CNA license or HHA certificate.
  • Knowledge of and / or 1 yr. of experience working with people with Alzheimer’s Disease and / or related disorders. Sensitivity to issues of aging.
  • Ability to be flexible with scheduling and work assignments, as well as the ability to work as a team.
