The Fiber Optic Splicer Technician position installs and maintains fiber optic cables as well as provides technical assistance in the design and testing of fiber optics. Responsible for ensuring the integrity and efficiency of our network systems through expertise in splicing techniques and equipment repair.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Splice single mode and ribbon fiber
• Fusion splice and terminate various types of fiber optic connectors
• Interpret as-builts and splicing matrices
• Installation and dressing of fiber optic cabling
• Perform uni-directional, bi-directional, and power meter testing (OLTS)
• Troubleshoot fiber optic links and certify fiber optic links
• Respond to emergency situations to restore service outages
• Report splicing matrix.

Physical Aspects

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, team-members may frequently be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Team members are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction sites. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Powerline construction work is performed outside and is subject to diverse weather conditions.
