Temporary Cook / Housekeeper – Join Resource Connection!

Location : Calaveras County, CA

About the Role

Resource Connection is looking for a dedicated and ethical Cook to join our team. This vital role is responsible for the provision of nourishing, safe, and appealing meals to the Angels Camp preschool children and center staff, ensuring strict adherence to USDA Child Care Food Program requirements.

This is a hands-on position that combines cooking, kitchen sanitation, essential record-keeping and basic housekeeping of the preschool center. If you thrive with minimum supervision and are committed to food safety and teamwork, we encourage you to apply!

Focus Area

Key Duties

Meal Preparation & Transport

Cook breakfast and lunch snacks for preschool children. Follow all food handling, storage, and safety procedures (choking hazards, cross-contamination).

Kitchen Sanitation

Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation. Wash dishes, load dishwashers, and adhere to a strict daily / weekly cleaning schedule. Practice safe handling of chemicals.

Support & Records

Responsible for purchasing food and supplies from the grocery store. Maintain accurate records including food inventories, meal counts and temperature logs .

Training & Teamwork

Train Substitute Cooks and Parent Volunteers. Participate in staff meetings and provide training on foodservice regulations.

Experience

Preferred one year (1 year) of food service experience.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalency.

Certifications

ServSafe Certification preferred at hire

Skills

Basic computer skills. Ability to read / follow a recipe, use critical thinking, and safely operate kitchen tools / appliances (knives, stove / oven, etc.).

Special Req.

Valid California Driver's License & proof of insurance. Must pass a criminal background check, health screening, physical / TB test and current immunizations.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Work is conducted in small to medium-sized kitchens in early childhood centers.
• Must be able to stand for up to 3 hours at a time.
• Must be able to occasionally lift and move up to 30 pounds .
• Requires occasional travel between agency locations in Calaveras County under all weather conditions.
