JOB SUMMARY

The SUD Mental Health Professional II (MHP) reports to the First Street Center Full Service Partnership Program Director and the FSC Outpatient PD and provides mental health clinical services, direct treatment services to patients, and case management services to clients.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide high quality, therapeutic, wellness and recovery oriented, direct therapy services (individual, family, group treatment, case management, and consultation) in the clinic and in the community as necessary to a caseload of clients with a mental illness and / or substance use disorder. The MHP provides services to all levels of care, as needed, including Full Service Partnership individuals.
  • Document services to meet all clinical program, county, and state requirements, including Short-Doyle / Medi-Cal requirements and Drug Medical requirements, noting significant intervention and progress toward development and attainment of a treatment plan.
  • Provide Mental Health Assessments / ASAM DMC Assessments and document accordingly.
  • For clients with Substance Use Disorder : Provide diagnosis, document medical necessity, and review and authorize assessments and treatment plans provided by treatment staff.
  • Maintain and submit all documentation and billing as it relates to a client's
  • Consistently meet program performance standards including a service impact of 50%, sign and submit documentation goals, and attainment of 40 hours of job related in-service training per year.
  • Participates in various aspects of the Mental Health Diversion Court (MHDC) including appearing in court as an agency representative, coordinate services, prepare declarations of program suitability, review psychological assessments, review court progress reports, and generate court reports.
  • Meet with clinical mental health services staff to review client's progress and to assure quality treatment planning.
  • Provide direction to Treatment Team regarding needed case management tasks.
  • Follow all reporting requirements for incidents of Child Abuse, Elder Abuse, Adult Abuse, Dependent Adult Abuse, and Tarasoff warnings per California reporting laws.
  • Review client files at discharge for completion, making written notes of findings, and review findings with counseling staff for the purpose of quality assurance.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and on-site staff training.
  • Communicate closely, in a systematic fashion, with agencies and significant others involved in the rehabilitation of clients.
  • Provide the Program Director at OP and the FSP Program Director with timely reports on any unusual occurrences that might affect the overall program operation or the health and safety of clients or employees.
  • Provide support as needed in crisis situations or incidents to de-escalate the situations when possible, assess for safety, and safety plan. Responsible for documenting the incident, recording the action and outcome.
  • Will think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
  • Will drive on Agency business.
  • Physical presence at the program is required.
  • Employees are expected to manage their cell phone use so that the Agency cell phone stipend covers all business usage. Any calls not covered by the stipend are to be made on a company landline phone.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Licensed Preferred : Currently licensed in the State of California as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) with at least two (2) years' post licensure experience.
  • Masters : A Master's degree in behavioral health science with current registration as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) or an Associate Social Worker (ASW).
  • Must be registered with Board of Behavioral Science (BBS).
  • Current certified training in emergency first aid procedures and CPR, preferred.
  • Knowledge of best practices regarding the treatment of clients with mental illness and individuals diagnosed with a Substance Use Disorder.
  • Knowledge of record keeping procedures related to patient charts and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
  • Experience with co-occurring substance use disorders and treatment modalities.
  • Communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Office 365, Teams, Zoom and other communication / meeting platforms.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws. Agency insurer authorization is required.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, general physical, and TB test.
  • ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS FOR BILINGUAL SKILL

  • Communicate effectively in written and spoken Spanish.
  • Required ability to communicate effectively with monolingual Spanish speaking clients and families for all clinical purposes.
  • Assist with phone calls for Spanish clients.
  • Required to provide language translations for case managers and Physicians on a periodic basis.
  • Other translation tasks as required.

  • Bilingual / Masters : Class 182 ($73,741.71 - $97,039.07 / annually)

  • Bilingual / Licensed : Class 192 ($81,456.72 - $107,191.48 / annually)
