Job Title : Supervisor, BCP – Genesee

Reports To : Program Manager / Building Community Partnerships

Status : Full Time

FLSA Status : Exempt

Job Summary : The Building Community Partners (BCP) program is designed to provide supportive services to clients / families who are either current or prospective resource parents (foster parents, fictive kin or relative placement), birth families, youth and children who are involved in the child welfare system.

The primary responsibility of the Building Community Partnerships Supervisor is to locate existing and develop new support services, activities, and resources that meet the specific needs of the client / families served. Including, but not limited to : After school programs; extracurricular activities in conjunction with local schools; Fatherhood involvement activities, Grandparent raising grandchildren support, children's workshops, recreational activities for youth and children involved in the child welfare system; youth support groups; and, mentoring and tutorial support services.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Hire, train and monitor Parent Partner activities.
  • Identifies, recruits, and retains community stakeholders to become collaborative members for the BCP.
  • Recruits and trains community representatives for the purpose of attending Family Team Meetings at the request of DHS.
  • Conducts community forums, Child Abuse Prevention Trainings, Building Community Partnership (BCP) meetings and focus groups to promote awareness of BCP.
  • Collaborates with DHS to provide training and mentoring services to potential and existing resource parents.
  • Facilitates support groups for both birth parents and foster parents monthly.
  • Manages program specific assistance funds
  • Submits monthly and other reports as required.
  • Complete Special Projects as assigned by Program Manager or Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Qualifications : The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required :

  • A bachelor degree in the human services area is required, social work preferred. Master's degree a plus.
  • Experience working with children and families with multiple problems and an overall ability to relate to and engage with families at risk and in crisis.
  • An understanding of current and appropriate parenting skills and life skills.
  • Knowledge of child welfare policies and programs, family therapy theories, treatment philosophies, and strategies of home based services.
  • A valid Michigan driver's license, with appropriate insurance and ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to provide culturally competent services that shows sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

  • Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations :

  • Working Conditions :

  • Non-traditional work hours in the office and family homes.
  • 24 / 7 / 365 availability.
  • Includes driving own vehicle with mileage reimbursed by Agency
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to travel via automobile for up to several hours at a time.
  • Ability to physically interact with children at group events.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials needed for group events and conferences.
