POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the DON, this position will evaluate the quality of patient care and patient outcomes as they relate to healthcare associated infections. He / she will collect and prepare healthcare associated infection data; present infection data and make recommendations for actions. He / she monitors employee compliance in use of barriers and infection prevention measures; prepares and presents educational offerings for the staff; implements programs to protect the healthcare workers, visitors, and others in the healthcare environment. He / she is also responsible for the planning, organizing, developing, implementing, facilitating and evaluating all employee education programs throughout the facility, in accordance with ASM policies, current applicable federal, state, local standards, guidelines and regulations to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a current state license as LPN / LVN with experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing. Minimum, two (2) years nursing supervision in the long term care setting is preferred. Understanding of nosocomial infection definitions, chart review, functional understanding of sterilization, disinfection and sanitation. Adult teaching techniques, clear oral and written communication skills, project management, and policy management. Working knowledge of OSHA Blood borne Pathogen Standards, OSHA Tuberculosis. Protection, Title 22, State and Federal laws related to communicable disease, and DNV Standards. Ability to develop policies and procedures; ability to teach and evaluate clinical performance; ability to interpret state and federal regulations and apply them in specific settings; ability to interpret state and federal regulations and apply them in specific settings; and ability to collect and interpret data. Demonstration of ability to maintain good rapport and effective working relationships with medical staff, nursing staff and other ancillary department personnel throughout the facility.
