Capitan will provide company vehicle(Ford Raptor or F-350 Platinum 2023+ model), company phone, company computer, PPE, tools and any other equipment needed for the job.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Ensure that field operations are being conducted in compliance with all applicable state / province / provincial and federal regulations
- Mentor and train automation specialists providing direction, development, and guidance whether that is troubleshooting existing or outdated equipment, or building new facilities
- Create budgets, write procedures and supervise projects such as battery builds, powerline infrastructure additions or modifications or scada development
- Interact daily with Production Superintendent, Lease Operators, I&E Technicians, Measurement Technicians, and Contractors to maintain communication across the field, troubleshoot issues and complete projects like battery builds
- Help create and oversee a maintenance schedule and continually strive to increase efficiencies, optimize current infrastructure and reduce OPEX without sacrificing reliability or accuracy
- Be willing to oversee and control operational expenses and improve efficiencies in the I&E department
- Train others in the creation, maintenance, and support of devices, including developing and testing of logic to automate facilities, selection, support and troubleshooting of field devices, and maintenance of screens
- Be able to find, screen and oversee contractors and internal staff
- Train others to establish processes to resolve issues, introduce hardware and software solutions, and provide support to system operators on the use of the Process Control System
- Demonstrate safe and ethical behavior at all times and has an obligation to stop work if unsafe conditions exist or are suspected
- Work with Operations staff to troubleshoot process issues, automation configurations and graphical interface modifications
- Maintain safeguards on control systems as a layer of protection to inherent process risks
- Support and be on-site for all commissioning and start up (new facilities & small projects)
- Responsible for the safe maintenance, configuration, system availability, and optimization of all automation in assigned areas
- Mentor, train, review, and develop Automation personnel
- Build effective internal and external relationships
- Perform all other duties as assigned

Oil and Gas Industry Experience PreferredPractice safe work habits at all timesAble to manage a team of internal and / or contractors on multiple projects simultaneouslyAble to work within a team environmentAble to travel and work out of Capitan's field office in Orla, TX dailyPosition requires operation of company vehicles, therefore incumbent must maintain a clean driving record and adhere to Company policiesCommitment to safety and environmental stewardshipStrong verbal and written communication skillsTechnical background with multiple SCADA platforms, specifically ignitionSupervisory Responsibilities
Supervises 3-5 direct reports who are automation technicians, employees or contractorsOrganizes and oversees the schedules, work, and productivity of the team while monitoring costs and budgetsWith the assistance of HR and the department head, handle discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policyAlso be able to handle the interviewing and hiring on of new positions in the I&E departmentEducation & Experience
10+ years experience in oil & gas automation and / or I&E2-5 years’ supervisory experienceHigh School Diploma or GED preferredProven leader
