The Medical Director of Liver Transplant at VA Pittsburgh Medical Center is a unique opportunity to lead a nationally recognized transplant program. In this role, you will diagnose and manage chronic liver diseases, coordinate comprehensive pre- and post-transplant care, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Your Responsibilities

As the Liver Transplant Medical Director, you will :

  • Veteran-Centered Liver Transplantation :

Diagnose and manage a wide range of chronic liver diseases, including hepatitis C and alcohol-associated liver disease.

  • Coordinate comprehensive pre- and post-liver transplant evaluations.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary transplant boards, collaborating with various specialists.
  • Development of Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) Optimization Program :
  • Lead the design of a dedicated AUD care pathway for Veterans.

  • Work with psychologists and addiction specialists to provide integrated care.
  • Establish robust post-transplant monitoring protocols tailored to Veterans' needs.
  • Other Key Duties :
  • Participate in weekly Tumor Board meetings to discuss complex cases.

  • Engage in the Liver Transplant Multidisciplinary Clinic for comprehensive patient care.
  • Manage a personal Telehealth Clinic for remote consultations.
  • What We’re Looking For

    Qualifications : Candidates should be board eligible or certified in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology, with accredited fellowship training in both areas.

    Work Schedule & Benefits

    Schedule : Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 AM – 4 : 30 PM
