Job Purpose
This position uses analytical skills and professional accounting knowledge to work with Business Unit Leads, Department managers and investment project leaders in the creation of 6 budget events per year. Provides leadership over financial analysts to ensure appropriate accounting principles are utilized, good customer service and overall completion of team activities.
The Supervisor partners with the group lead to advice business unit leadership on the key drivers of financial performance and to provide forward-looking insights into emerging financial trends. Also supports rolling up total company costs during budget and monthly analysis. This role also has a great deal of autonomy in decision making and use of professional judgement.
Key Accountabilities
- Review and approve month end close activities including journal entries and budget analyst plan vs actual analysis for accuracy and completeness. Activity impacts the financial condition of AHM / HDMA with very little supervision.
- Review budget vs actual comparisons for plant which are analysed based on professional accounting standards to ensure accurate financial information and to advise management on future activity.
- Utilize advanced analytical skills, professional accounting expertise, and experience to collaborate with plant leadership and investment project leaders on complex financial matters, including the development of six budget events annually.
- Provide ongoing support to departmental direct reports.
- Leverage financial data to develop insightful presentations that inform business unit and division leadership on budget versus actual performance, while providing recommendations for improvement opportunities.
- Leadership over budget analysts – HR responsibility, Mentorship, Performance Reviews, Development Planning, etc
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Bachelor’s degree with major in accounting or finance5+ years preferably at HondaAdvance Accounting principles- GAAP / IFRS and Cost accounting background.Strong understanding of accounting functions, terminology and ability to apply accounting concepts.Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teamUnderstanding of Honda's accounting processes, preferably some financial analyst experienceAdvanced Microsoft product skills (Excel, Powerpoint, etc)Strong SAP Knowledge and skillsStrong understanding of business unit in which direct reports is supporting for good customer serviceWorkstyle
