Job descriptionDecember 4, 2025 December 5, 2025 December 7, 2025 December 24, 2025 December 25, 2025 December 26, 2025 Patient Demographics : Adults (95%) and Pediatrics (5%) Patient Volume / Census : 6 10 patients / day including postpartum Admissions : 5 7 average admissions while on call Rounding : Yes (7 10 antepartum and postpartum patients per day) Phone Consults : Not specified (in-person coverage required) Case Mix : Normal OB / GYN cases, deliveries, and emergent GYN surgeries Facility Type : Acute Care Hospital Trauma Level : Level III EMR System : Epic Specialty Backup Available : Midwife coverage (limited), anesthesia onsite 24 / 7, two additional OB practices on the floor Support Staff Available : CRNAs and nursing team (neonatal resuscitation capable) Reason for Coverage : Turnover vacancy Hospital Privileges Required : Yes Temporary Privileges Available : Yes (30 days) Credentialing Timeline : 30 days Credentialing Notes : IMLC candidates accepted but credentialing begins after MD license approval CSR License Required : Yes COVID-19 Vaccine : Required per facility guidelines Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance : Covered Travel Details : Airfare : Economy, 1 checked bag Lodging : Up to $175 / night (non-preferred hotels) per Syncx policy Rental Car : Mid-size (April Nov) up to $75 / day; 4WD SUV (Dec Mar) up to $100 / day Mileage : Reimbursed per IRS standard rates Normal vaginal deliveries Cesarean deliveries (scheduled by service) Emergent GYN surgeries (typically Inductions by VBACs required Licenses : Maryland license (will consider candidates needing to obtain one); IMLC accepted Board : Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology DEA : Required Certifications : ACLS, BLS, CPR required Experience : Minimum 2 years in OB / GYN Other Qualifications : Experience with labor and delivery, antepartum / postpartum rounding, and emergent GYN cases Provide 24-hour in-house OB / GYN call coverage including labor, delivery, and emergency GYN surgeries Manage 6 10 inpatient and postpartum cases per day Oversee inductions, deliveries, and cesarean sections scheduled for the service Respond promptly to emergency and consult calls Collaborate with midwives, CRNAs, and anesthesia team to ensure coordinated patient care Perform documentation and charting accurately in Epic EMR Support neonatal resuscitation efforts when required Ensure compliance with UPMC Western Maryland hospital policies and credentialing standards Participate in ongoing locum coverage rotation as needed
