Were looking for a driven Pre-Owned Vehicle Purchasing Director to lead our vehicle acquisition efforts. This role is critical to sourcing the right inventory from multiple channels to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.
The Pre-Owned Vehicle Purchasing Director is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and acquiring vehicles from auctions, online platforms, retail dealerships, wholesalers, and directly from consumers (off the street). This role requires a sharp eye for value, a strong work ethic, and the ability to coordinate logistics to ensure vehicles arrive quickly and efficiently. The right candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, works well with the sales and service teams, and is motivated to be the best in the business.

Responsibilities
- Source and purchase pre-owned vehicles from auctions, online marketplaces, retail dealerships, wholesalers, and private sellers.
- Accurately appraise and evaluate vehicles using VAuto and other market valuation tools.
- Coordinate transportation and logistics for all purchased vehicles.
- Maintain strong relationships with auction reps, dealers, and industry contacts to secure quality inventory.
- Monitor market trends and consumer demand to ensure optimal inventory mix.
- Work closely with Sales and Management teams to align purchasing with dealership goals.
- Negotiate favorable terms while maintaining profitability and quality standards.
- Track, report, and analyze acquisition performance to drive continuous improvement.
- Uphold dealership values by demonstrating teamwork, professionalism, and integrity.
Requirements
5+ years of automotive purchasing, used car management, or wholesale experience required.Strong knowledge of pre-owned acquisition channels (auctions, online platforms, trade-ins, dealer-to-dealer).Fluent with VAuto and other inventory management tools.Excellent negotiation and communication skills.Strong work ethic, desire to be the best, and ability to thrive in a team environment.Proven ability to coordinate logistics and manage multiple priorities.Availability to work 40 hours per week, with flexibility as needed.
