PCU Nursing Job Details Location : Puyallup, Washington 98372 Healthcare Setting : Level III Trauma Center, 40-bed Progressive Care Unit Assignment Type : Travel nursing job Start Date : November 17, 2025 End Date : February 21, 2026 Contract Duration : 14 weeks Shift : 12-hour night shifts (7 : 00 PM - 7 : 30 AM), every other weekend rotation Hours per Week : 36 guaranteed Estimated Weekly Pay : $1990 - $2130 Orientation : Comprehensive hospital and unit orientation, including Epic EMR training and preceptorship Registered Nurse Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license - Washington nursing jobs Minimum 1.5 years of clinical nursing experience (at least 1 year in Progressive Care Unit required) BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications Telemetry experience and competency (Traveler Telemetry Competency required prior to start) Proficiency in trach care, CIWA protocol, BiPAP, central line maintenance, tube / drain management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation Preferred : Chest tube management experience Familiarity with Epic charting system preferred COVID-19 vaccination required First-time travel nurses welcome! PCU Nurse Responsibilities Deliver high-quality nursing care to a diverse PCU patient population, including respiratory failure, sepsis, GI bleeding, alcohol withdrawal, post-surgical complications, oncology, diabetic / renal issues, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, and comfort care Monitor and interpret continuous telemetry for all patients Administer and manage medications such as Cardizem, heparin, insulin (non-DKA), nitroglycerin, Lasix, Dilaudid, and others Perform trach care, BiPAP management, central line maintenance, tube / drain management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including charge / resource nurses, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and therapy staff Float to ICU (PCU-level patients), CCU, Observation, ED Holding, and overflow areas as needed Participate in safe patient handling, glucose training, and ongoing nursing education Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR and associated equipment (Alaris, Pyxis, Philips bedside monitors) Experience the best of Washington healthcare while making a difference in patient care.
