Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Med / Surg Tele position requiring an AK RN license and at least two years of experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a hospital Med / Surg Tele unit with a focus on ortho and neuro patients
  • Patient population includes total joints, fractures, stroke, neuro, general surgery, and a high proportion of behavioral health cases
  • 75% of the caseload is orthopedic patients
  • Special procedures include traction, epidurals, administration of heparin and morphine, and providing respiratory treatments
  • Uses Pyxis medication dispensing system
  • Documentation is completed with Cerner; experience with Epic is preferred
  • Night shifts, 3x12 hours from 19 : 00 to 07 : 00
  • Weekend coverage required : 4-5 shifts per month
  • Floating to other Med / Surg units required
  • Nurses may provide respiratory treatments and manage special procedures such as traction and epidurals
  • High level of behavioral health patients on the unit
  • Modules are completed onsite during orientation and annually, typically 4-5 hours, and recorded via HealthStream
  • COVID vaccination required
  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • Locals are not accepted; candidates must live at least 100 miles away from the facility
  • Return travelers must have at least a two-year gap before returning
  • Must list any requested time off at time of consideration

  • Active AK RN license required prior to start; Compact license accepted for consideration
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Med / Surg Tele experience required
  • BLS, CPI, and MAB certifications required
  • Experience with Cerner documentation system required; Epic experience preferred
  • Must be able to float to other Med / Surg units as needed
