PCU RN Job Details Location : Wilmington, NC (zip 28401) – North Carolina healthcare opportunity Unit : Cardiac Telemetry / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Contract Type : Travel nursing contract Start Date : December 8, 2025 End Date : March 9, 2026 Duration : 13 weeks (option to extend up to 26 weeks) Shift : 12-hour day shifts (06 : 45 - 19 : 15), 36 hours per week Estimated Weekly Salary : $1660-$1700 Patient Ratios : 1 : 4 for surgical step down; 1 : 5-6 for lower acuity Weekend Requirement : 4 shifts per 4 weeks (flexible scheduling) Unit Orientation : 24 hours Scrubs : Navy PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac floor or progressive care experience Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or Compact State (required at start) BLS & ACLS certifications (required for all PCU nursing jobs) NIHSS certification (required) Proficient in cardiac telemetry, PCU / DOU / IMC / Stepdown, sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-MI care, pre / post cardiac cath, cardiac drip management (including titration), chest tubes, and non-invasive airway management Epic charting experience preferred Must pass EKG testing prior to start Ability to float within hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed Preferred : Arterial line management, wound care / wound vac, charge nurse experience PCU RN Responsibilities Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with cardiac and vascular diagnoses, including atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD, PAD, and vasculitis Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, manage cardiac drips, and perform sheath removal Assist with procedures such as CABG, valve replacements, vascular surgeries, pacemaker placements, and post-cath care Utilize specialized equipment : arterial lines, Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR band, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires Document patient care using Epic and manage medications via Pyxis Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams Participate in unit rotation and float as required Be prepared to join the Storm Team / Hurricane Team during catastrophic events or disasters Experience the best of Wilmington, NC healthcare jobs—enjoy a thriving arts scene, coastal cuisine, and outdoor recreation while making a difference in patient care.
