Blood Bank Technologist

Overview

The primary purpose of the Blood Bank Technologist position is to assume responsibility for maintaining blood / blood product inventory, daily temperature quality control of designated refrigerators, thawing fresh frozen plasma, aliquoting blood for pediatric patients, logging in blood / blood products, issuing blood / blood products, performing clerical duties, answering phones and communicating needs to staff under the direction of the Chief technologist.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent required. ASCP certification or equivalent preferred. Equivalent experience, education and / or training may be substituted for the Bachelor’s Degree requirement on a year for year basis.

American Society for Clinical Pathologist for those possessing the certification, University Hospital's

designated Background Check Company

Position requires sitting, standing, reaching and walking one-third of the time.

Must have the ability to lift up to (25) pounds one-third of the time
