Haven is building the future of migraine care for the 40 million Americans who suffer from this debilitating neurological condition. Backed by Precursor Ventures and 1843 Capital, we're transforming how migraine is treated through an innovative combination of telemedicine, AI-enabled monitoring, and personalized care plans. Our early results are exceptional – our initial patient cohort is seeing a 70% improvement rate with days impacted by headache reduced by half.
The Opportunity
As an early member of the engineering team, you'll have an outsized impact on both our technology and culture. You'll work directly with our founding team – including our Stanford‑trained Chief Medical Officer and experienced founders from Collective Health – to build technology that meaningfully improves people's lives. We're tackling a $112 B market opportunity where only 8% of patients currently receive adequate care.
Our Technology
We've built our platform using Elixir, Phoenix and LiveView on AWS, with infrastructure as code managed through Terraform and CI / CD via GitHub Actions. We leverage PostgreSQL for a variety of purposes. Our philosophy emphasizes simplicity and pragmatism. While our immediate focus is on scaling our core platform, we have ambitious plans to leverage AI for patient care optimization, clinical decision support, and automated care routing.
The codebase is only a year old, so there's a lot to build but that also means there's not much cruft or legacy code.
You'll Help Us
Your primary focus will be building and scaling our care delivery platform, working closely with our clinical and operations teams to translate patient and provider needs into elegant technical solutions. As an early employee, you'll also help shape our engineering culture and technical strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Early startup employees often wear many hats, too many to list in a concise set of bullets. While the primary responsibilities are building out the platform, you may occasionally touch areas across the broader scope of the company goals.
What We're Looking For
You're likely a strong fit if you get things done, are a good communicator and have empathy for yourself, our patients and all of your co‑workers across the org. Other skills that are helpful but can be learned on the job include experience integrating with healthcare APIs, working with HIPAA‑compliant systems, and an interest in AI / ML applications in healthcare.
As an early employee, you'll have a significant opportunity for career growth as we scale. This role supports career track development in both individual contributor or management tracks.
Our Culture & Benefits
At Haven, we offer a unique opportunity to work directly with experienced founders who have built and scaled successful healthcare companies. You'll receive meaningful equity in a venture‑backed company tackling a massive problem, along with comprehensive healthcare benefits. Our hybrid work environment, with 1‑2 days per week in our San Francisco office, provides flexibility while maintaining strong team collaboration.
Diversity & Inclusion
Diversity is built into our DNA with a founding team representing POC, female, disabled, and LGBTQ+ founders. We strongly encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply – many successful candidates may not meet every requirement. Studies show under‑represented candidates often only apply when meeting 100% of qualifications; we'd love to hear from you even if you don't check every box.
