Air Compressor Service Technician

Location : Indianapolis, IN

Job Type : Full-time, Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Reports To : Service Manager (Generator)

Key Responsibilities :

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on rotary screw, reciprocating, and other types of air compressors.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues.
  • Install new compressor systems and related components (dryers, filters, piping).
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding service issues, recommendations, and solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed (local / regional).
  • Participate in on-call rotation for emergency service.
  • Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical / vocational training preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in industrial equipment service, preferably air compressors.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, manuals, and wiring diagrams.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Basic computer skills for service documentation and communication.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in various environments.
  • Preferred Skills :

  • Experience with brands like Ingersoll Rand, Atlas Copco, Kaeser, Sullair, etc.
  • Familiarity with PLCs and control systems.
  • EPA certification for refrigerant handling (if working with refrigerated dryers).
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
