Investment Banking Associate, Growing Tech Focused Investment Bank
Our client, a sell-side technology-focused investment bank, is looking to add an associate to its San Francisco office.
The associate will work independently and within groups to assist the firm, clients, and prospective clients in exploring and executing M&A and capital raising projects. This individual will help lead and manage projects through to completion.
Responsibilities
- Help lead and execute M&A and capital raising projects
- Conduct research and due diligence to understand technology companies, sub-verticals, and markets.
- Develop various types of financial analysis and models to assist in mergers, acquisitions, and capital raising transactions, including but not limited to valuation (e.g. DCF, comparable company, precedent M&A, LBO, regression, and synergy), operating models, KPI calculations (e.g. retention metrics, LTV, and CAC), and waterfall (funds flow) models.
- Prepare the various materials used in business development, M&A, and financing processes, including but not limited to investment memoranda, executive summaries, management presentations, data books (historical financials, operating models, KPI calculations, cap tables, etc.), and pitchbooks.
- Build and manage virtual data rooms, process NDAs, request, collect, and compare term sheets
- Coordinate with clients and prospective clients to collect due diligence materials
- Assist senior bankers with business development and execution responsibilities
- Monitor technology industry for current events, transactions, valuations and other important information
- May travel for client meetings and industry research
Background
Bachelor degree in finance or accounting and / or equivalent education, training, and work-related experience.3+ years of experience in a finance or business background, ideally in a similar investment banking roleAbility to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment with minimal supervision.Excellent verbal and written communication skillsProven expert proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and PowerPointAbility to organize and track overlapping tasks and assignments, with frequent priority changesStrong financial modeling skillsAbility to work under extreme pressure and tight deadlinesAffinity for current events, critical issues, and relevant newsSeniority Level
