The Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a Correctional Officer Sergeant for Jefferson Correctional Institution. This is an internal promotional opportunity only. Only current FDC employees will be considered.

Minimum qualifications include : being at least 18 years of age, being a citizen of the United States, having a High School Diploma or equivalent, having completed the basic recruit training course for correctional officers and having one year of experience as a certified officer with the State of Florida, not having received a suspension within the past 12 months, not having received an involuntary demotion within the past 24 months, and not having received less than a 3.00 rating on a performance evaluation within the past 3 fiscal years.

Specific duties and responsibilities include supervising inmates, managing inmate housing areas, enforcing rules and sanitation standards, transporting inmates, conducting accurate head counts, maintaining custody and control over inmates, performing crisis intervention functions, maintaining facility security, providing emergency assistance, directing Correctional Officers in supervising inmates, and performing other related duties as required.
